A Colorful Design Sanctuary in La Condesa

Mexico City

When my son and I stepped into the apartment for the first time, I felt an immediate sense of alignment. There are certain spaces that simply feel good the moment you enter them, and this was one of those spaces.

The first things that caught my attention were the color and the light. Warm tones moved through the apartment in a way that felt both vibrant and grounding, while the natural light poured into the space throughout the day.

The openness of the layout, the architecture, and the carefully selected furniture all came together to create a home that felt intentional and inspiring. It was the kind of place that made me think quietly to myself: I could live here. I could create here.

A Home Designed with Intention

The apartment is a beautifully designed studio in La Condesa, one of Mexico City’s most vibrant and creative neighborhoods. Every detail within the space feels thoughtfully considered—from the furniture placement to the color palette that brings warmth and personality to the apartment.

Rather than feeling over styled, the home carries a natural balance between design and comfort. It is both visually inspiring and incredibly livable, which is a rare combination.

The natural light became one of my favorite elements of the space. In the mornings, soft sunlight filled the room and illuminated the colors of the walls and furniture, creating quiet moments that felt almost cinematic.

A Space That Invites Creativity

Traveling with my son, I brought my Minolta SRT-101 camera along with several rolls of film, hoping to document moments throughout our trip to Mexico City.

Unexpectedly, the apartment itself became one of my favorite subjects.

The way the light moved through the rooms, the textures of the walls, and the thoughtful design details made the space incredibly photogenic. Small corners of the apartment — a chair near the window, a wall catching afternoon light, the quiet simplicity of the living space — felt like scenes waiting to be captured.

I photographed several details of the apartment on 35mm film, allowing the space to become part of the visual story of our time in the city.

Living in the Space

During our stay, the apartment quickly became our calm home base.

Days in Mexico City were filled with exploring neighborhoods, visiting cafés, walking through parks, and discovering the creative rhythm of the city. Returning to the apartment each evening felt peaceful and grounding.

As a mother traveling with my son, having a space that felt both comfortable and inspiring made our experience even more meaningful.

It wasn’t simply a place to sleep — it became part of our experience in the city.

Discovering La Condesa

Located in La Condesa, the apartment sits within one of Mexico City’s most walkable and culturally rich neighborhoods. Tree-lined streets, cafés, small boutiques, and local parks create an environment that feels both lively and relaxed.

Mornings often began with quiet walks through the neighborhood, while afternoons and evenings were spent exploring the surrounding areas of Roma Norte and beyond.

The apartment’s location made it easy to experience the city while still having a peaceful space to return to at the end of each day.

A Space That Leaves an Impression

Some places we visit simply become part of our travel memories. Others leave a deeper impression because of how they make us feel while we are there.

This apartment was one of those places.

Filled with color, thoughtful design, and beautiful natural light, it became a meaningful part of our Mexico City experience — a space that felt creative, welcoming, and quietly inspiring.
